Our OSCAR Programme
OSCAR stands for ‘Out of School Care and Recreation’. It is a term that has been widely adopted in New Zealand to describe services that provide regular care for school age children (5 – 13 year olds) outside school hours; that is, after school and during the school holidays and Selwyn Kids limited is pleased to be able to offer such services.
OSCAR is more than child-minding services
Selwyn Kids central location within Rolleston means that it is easily accessible for the two local primary schools being Rolleston School and Clearview School. In addition it is accessible for children whose parents live in Rolleston but attend Burnham school.
Rolleston School is within easy walking distance (200m) of the service where a walking OSCAR bus is used but when and where needed transport can be arranged.
Children attending Clearview and Burnham schools require the use of transport to and from school. Selwyn Kids uses two modern vehicles to transport the children. The vehicles are compliant with all safety standards including diagonal safety restraints. All vehicles are regularly serviced and maintained by a local Rolleston mechanic, MB Automotive Limited.
The premises used by the Selwyn Kids OSCAR services are used only for the care and education of children. As a result high safety standards are maintained and checked daily by OSCAR staff.
